JUNE 6, 2017 MEETING MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER (Time 6:35)

  • POLICE OFFICER

Crime is down 23% overall for Fort Logan.

35% of area crime in our area is auto related.

Dedicated officer for 4th July fireworks issues. Illegal fireworks receiving more attention this year.

  • OFFICERS REPORTS
    • PRESIDENT – ROB COLLINS: Out of town on vacation
    • VP – OPEN
    • SECRETARY - CARA MEEKER - Minutes read. Page 1 of minutes from April 7th meeting approved “as is”, since page 2 of the minutes was lost.
    • TREASURER – NANCY POLAK

Regular bills were paid.                                  BALANCE $2,625.16

  • COMMITTEE REPORTS
    • MEMBERSHIP – JOHN POLAK
      • 105 households have paid dues for 2017 with a 6/1 deadline (Approx 50% of the homes). Normal rate for payment; John will continue to report on dues as they come in.
    • PARKS – KATRINA REED
      • Denver Parks planted flowers.
      • Katrina called about asphalt repair needed at park; a full repave is still 2 years out in the budget but we can get spot repairs in the meantime.
      • Porta-potty was serviced and is ready for use.
      • Reminder that our park is first-come, first-serve. There are no permits issued for events at the park. Sports games/activity take precedence over social gatherings.
    • SAFETY – RICK REED
      • Rick attended the Commander’s meeting. Was given reports about auto crime in the area and reminders about the illegality of fireworks and stepped-up enforcement for 2017.
    • SOCIAL – COURTNEY MANN
      • Movie in the park night is on track for June 24th at sundown. Courtney will test out the screens and projector, also look into park sprinkler schedule
      • Discussed “Denver Days” and “Neighbor Night Out” events that the city and local law enforcement promote. City will offer free cones/street markers for block parties, also potential advertising on their online pages. Motion made and approved to explore the planning of a “Pinecrest Night Out” event to take place at the same time as the Concert in the Park on August 12. Event would include the music of the Denver concert band, plus other activities.
    • ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL – MIKE SCHUH
      • Nothing to report
    • ISLAND/ENTRANCE – KAY REED
      • Kay is still working with Denver to get water access to island. Daniel will fix sprinkler issues. A new light was purchased by John to replace burned out bulb. Motion made and approved to reimburse John for the small amount he spent (dollar amount TBD if/when he finds receipt)
    • VILLAGE EDITOR – JANE BROWN – not in attendance.
  • OLD BUSINESS
    • SURVEY RESULTS
      • CARA’S ACTIVITY
        • Communication: Facebook Page Created. Will have both online and newsletter information. Discussed privacy, administration, general rules for the FB page.
        • Trust in the Board: Proposal for utilizing state resources by attending Colorado HOA Informational Meetings. Need volunteers to attend; board members expressed interest in possibly attending meetings that educate the board and inform the neighborhood on issues that matter to us.
        • Aesthetics: Proposal for neighbor “assistance” project. Neighbor and community volunteers (discussed the use of Scouts, Red Cross, other orgs) to assist our elder neighbors with yard/home projects that they cannot do themselves or have fallen behind on (ex. See “A Little Help”, non-profit that does yard work and home repair in Denver). Discussed liability issues, concerns, how people would ask for help, what jobs could be done. Also acknowledged that rental owners who do not care for their properties would not fall under this event but contribute to the aesthetics problem.
      • NEW BUSINESS
  • OTHER BUSINESS / ISSUES/ANNOUNCEMENTS
    • Nancy brought up expenses for new neighbor welcome baskets, annual website hosting bill, and flowers purchased. Motions made and approved to reimburse for expenses on these neighborhood items.
    • No July Meeting. No July Newsletter.
