OCTOBER 3, 2017 MEETING MINUTES

 

CALL TO ORDER (Time 6:35)

 

POLICE OFFICER

 

New Community Resource Officer Rubin Garduno attended

 

Illegal racing in the neighborhood – the issue is known by the area police and they are working on it

 

Area crime is 5% up—70% of that is auto theft. They have received a grant to assist car owners install FOBs for free (up to 120 cars). Contact Officer Garduno.

 

COUNCILMAN FLYNN/ DANA

 

Councilman Flynn attended CO Symphony, Rhapsody in Blue, with neighbors. It was great! Will look for other opportunities for discount tickets

 

New contract for the Walmart lot – confidential for now

 

Park Hill Golf Course; privately owned by a trust and they want to sell due to money issues. City of Denver wants to purchase 80 acres, the matter will be debated in November

 

Finalist buyer for the Loretto Heights location has entered negotiations

 

Councilman reminded all about upcoming bond issues on the ballot; he recommends voting no on green roof initiative

OLD BUSINESS

 

Bricks on the island replaced. Check with Rob for cost.

 

Continuing discussion about the survey responses. Recommendation made to return the task to Bob Johnson

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Need to replace 3rd place sign for Xmas tree light contest. Courtney will look into that and also signs we could use for neighborhood entrance for social events.

 

Elections: the attendance rule to qualify as a board nominee has been suspended for the upcoming election. Motion made and approved. Discussed the availability of proxy votes.

 

Mike Schuh discussed how the board can communicate with residents about neighborhood concerns. This should be an ongoing discussion with a timeline for decisions.

House with old railing (that some had been concerned about) is having new railing installed
